Aaron has been born!

Sep. 10th, 2007 | 07:21 am

Whoa, I forgot to update. I'll post some of the things I've written in other places =)

I was induced Friday September 7th at 8am.

Quickly...:
We got to the hospital at about 7:20am. Dr. Hirt(eheheh)broke my water at 8am and they started the pitocin(sp?)drip then, too.

The contractions were painful so about an hour in, I was begging for an epidural. Then I was happy :D

So, I slept for a while and they came in a few times but I was really out of it. They gave me an oxygen mask at some point.

I wasn't feeling any pain and at around 11:30 or so I woke up with pressure. They checked me and I was fully dialated.

I started pushing at around 12 and at 12:37, Aaron James was born =D

He weighed 8 lbs, 1 oz and measured 20 inches long at birth. Coming home he's 7 lbs and 14 oz.

More detail on the labor/delivery:
It feels great to have him in my arms(though he prefers to lay on my chest)and not in my tummy. And not being pregnant...*sings praises* =D

The induction was alright. Dr. Hirt(can't get over that xD)broke my water, which was weird. I was all wet and I didn't like it. It really feels like you wet yourself, honestly. And with every contraction, more water came out. The pitocin worked pretty well, apparently. Contractions started soon after and got much stronger fairly fast. At first I was okay but within a little while, I was nearly in tears.

When I finally decided to get the epidural, I was in an enormous amount of pain. And I had to wait for them to come up and take blood and wait for the results before getting it. Longest 15 minutes of my life. Most painful, too.

The nurse I had during labor/delivery was an angel, to be sure. She made me feel so much better during the epidural becuase I was scared of it, honestly. I can't imagine a needle in the back isn't a little scary for anyone. But she was great. She held my hand and everything. She was so upbeat and happy that I felt much better with her around.

I went in not wanting an epidural and I came out with blue marks on my arm and back and damn proud of them.

Finally when the epidural kicked in(took about 10 minutes to start and a little more for the full 'yum' effect), I took a nap. I woke up once in a while but not for very long in between. Angie(my wonderful nurse)had me put on an oxygen mask because Aaron had decided to sleep, too, and his heart rate was a little low. I kept waking up during that thinking I wasn't breathing even though I was, I was just passing out. I'd focus on my breathing and then not remember what just happened because I went back to sleep. Then at about 11:30, I woke up and felt pressure in my butt and vagina. The nurse heard me and checked me, fully dialated! Oh, so happy!! So, she did whatever with the epidural and started getting ready for me to push.

At around noon, I started pushing. It wasn't hard and didn't hurt, mainly because the epidural hadn't worn off, and didn't for quite some time. I'm not sure when they finally called Dr. Hirt but he ran over(the clinic I go to is right across the street. I could see it from my PP room)and delivered my baby boy. He had the cord wrapped around his neck but he was fine.

I tore a little bit but in only two places and not that badly. Hell, I barely notice the stitches until I go potty =D Let me tell you, do your kegals. They helped soooo much.

Pictures! )

Sorry about not cutting it before. I was on my way out of the house and I meant to fix it when I got home but it slipped my mind.

Unfortunately, the happiness and joy of bringing Aaron home comes with great sadness. The first animal Mike and I bought together, Dusty, has died. We noticed early Sunday morning. I started bawling, I loved my little baby. Almost as soon as Aaron was born, I said "Now I can hold Dusty and Daisy again!" Daisy was my rat that I gave to my Godmother when I moved.

I'm very upset, as is Mike, but we're both looking at it in the best way. While we lose a life, we gain one. It's sad that he had to leave us but at least he had a great life and almost made it to two years old.

New Journal

Jan. 26th, 2006 | 04:36 pm
I feel rather : blank blank
The 'Tune Of The Moment' is : ~None

I've started a new journal.

Why?
Because I wanted a Friends-Only journal without having to go back and make all of my entries friend's only. It would take too long.

Which journals are your old ones?
dagger982
420sk8erchick

Are you deleting them?
Never. I have many entries I want to look back at one day. Maybe if one day I get un-lazy and either tag each entry, make them friends-only, or LJ adds a feature that makes it easier, I'll revive the old ones.

Does this mean you're never going to post in the old journals again?
No, I may still. This will probably be my main journal. I might post in the old ones saying that I updated the new journal or such but this will be my main journal now.

How do I become a friend?
Either send me an IM, E-Mail, or comment on this entry and I'll add you. Also, if you just add me, I'll add you back.

I would prefer if you left a comment with answers to these questions:

1. How did you meet me?
2. Where did you meet me?
3. How long have we known eachother?
4. Do we know eachother well?
5. Name one special fact about yourself that I don't know.
6. Name something about me that no one else knows.

I hope to see my friend's list grow.

~Ki
